Upright stem growing within a small rosette of grey-green basal leaves. Small white-cream flowerheads are in clusters. Reproduces by seed and stolons. Often found growing in dense mats which tend to displace other plants. Likes gravelly soil. Also called littleleaf pussytoes, small-leaf pussytoes, Nuttall's pussytoes, common pussytoes, Rocky Mountain pussytoes, and silver pussytoes. A member of the aster family.

Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies; host plant for painted lady caterpillars.
