characteristics

Diminutive, easily overlooked, with rosettes of reddish dull green leaves and minute pink tinged white flowers. Individual plants can produce up to 90 flowers in one day. Due to shallow roots, this plant will die if the soil dries out. If moisture conditions are good, flowering may continue until snowfall. Rosettes can survive to flower the following summer.

habitat

Gravelly streambeds, moist meadows, field edges and disturbed sites.
