characteristics

Tufted, erect, with grey green leaves. Pyramid shaped seed spikes start out purplish then become cream-coloured when flowering followed by brown to bronze in the fall. Clump forming; spreads by rhizomes. Very pretty grass when flowering.

Populations are in decline due to human activity; in particular increased use of all terrain vehicles.
